I asked Aengus Friel from Shammen Delly what the Distorted Perspectives Festival meant to him.

“The only thing I could say about the festival is that we’re both looking forward to supporting Ulrich Schnauss. Whenever we first heard Ulrich’s ‘Far Away Trains Passing By’ album, me and Josh must have listened to that album a million times, which would have ended up subliminally influencing our own music at the time. It will be a privledge to share the stage with Ulrich at Distorted Perspectives, especially in our home land of Donegal. The festival will be a great opportunity to showcase our blend of electronica/ambient music to the locals, so fingers crossed we get a good reaction from the crowd. Usually when we perform, it’s never in Donegal, its either in other cities such as Derry, Belfast or Dublin”.

“We are working on new material at the minute, so we hope to release an album or an ep soon. Our first and debut self titled album was released on Psychonavigation Records in 2013. We had great support with radio DJ’s such as BBC’s Electric Mainline presenter ‘Stephen McCauley and An Taobh Tuathail’s ‘Cian Ó Cíobháin’, which we owe those lads alot for giving us the airtime and the kind words. I believe the label has made another 10 copies available on CD. We also released an EP called Midnight Sessions last year that featured a blinding remix from Anodyne. A downed pint got that remix on the ball!”

“Speaking of Ulrich Schnauss, we released a track on a compilation that features both ourselves and Ulrich. The compilation is called ‘Touched 2’ and the money generated from the download sales were donated towards Macmillan Cancer Research, so it’s all for a great cause. It’s jammed pack full of gems, probably the largest Electronic Music compilation ever, and its an honor to be apart of that”.

“Oh I forgot to mention, that we have a new track on another compilation coming out soon from Derry based label/collective ‘Culture Glitch‘. It will be volume 2, which features and showcases local electronica artists. It will be released on Vinyl. Here is a link to the tracks from Volume 1.
