Lola Colt 851x315

This track is the first release from the forthcoming, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’, Jim Sclavunos produced album, “Away From The Water”, released on Fuzz Club Records and due out at the end of the month.

With trademark soaring vocals and tequila-soaked, jangling cinematic riffage, Lola Colt are quite literally a band apart.

Singer, Gun Overby shares her deoxyribonucleic acid with Patti Smith and Grace Slick at their primal zenith.

This six-piece deliver an enveloping wall of sound which by equals measures, can be menacingly bombastic and hauntingly melancholic.

With a clutch of digital EP releases under their collective belts and an already near mythical live reputation, this London band’s post-punk, hardworking/touring ethic, surely has them on the cusp of the widespread acclaim that their efforts to date deserve.

The band had their debut vinyl foray on “The Reverb Conspiracy – Volume One” compilation, co-released by Casper Dee’s Fuzz Club Records and The Reverberation Appreciation Society in 2012. Tellingly, the talent populating that limited release double album are pretty much all now having their moment, basking in the limelight.

Catch Lola Colt on the road, commencing in Glasgow on October 22nd and culminating in London on November 04th, for the official “Away From The Water” album launch party.

Lola Colt are likely to become one of those bands, you just won’t get to see in a smaller venue in the very near future, so sell your granny to get a ticket if you have to!

Minor gripes for me are the all too familiar lack of a Belfast or Dublin gig, and an official video for “Driving Mr Johnny” which follows stylistic trend, rather than showcasing the band in their natural, visceral live element, which is the video option I have chosen to post here.

In the meantime I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my 180g coloured vinyl…
