EP Review: Tuath – ‘existence is futile’

tuath2

Just the other week, I wrote a review for the video release, of the lead track, ‘existence is futile‘, from this latest EP by Tuath.

What I particularly love about Tuath, is that you literally don’t know what they’re going to come up with next. Their’s is not the predictable, regurgitation by numbers, of easy-street. Their’s is the, to be applauded, path far less travelled. A path littered with obstacles, hairpin bends, steep inclines and precipitous drop-offs, a path refreshingly devoid of pretentiousness.

I was delighted, back in March, to have the opportunity to play Stupid Cosmonaut‘s debut single, ‘Salvia‘ on my ‘chromaticism’s revolutions on the radio‘ podcast.

“Stupid Cosmonaut are a Manchester-based pseudonymous musical entity consisting of Sam Read and Steven McNamara amongst others, experimenting with electronic, ambient and psychedelic soundscapes.”

White Hills / Radar Men From The Moon – ‘Fuzz Club ‘Split Single No. 8’

wmrmftm

White Hills and RMFTM are the latest additions to the Fuzz Club Split Single series – boasting leviathans from all ends of the underground spectrum, a roll of honour which to date includes, Christian Bland & The Revelators / Singapore Sling, The Underground Youth / The Third Sound, The Entrance Band / Wall Of Death, Alan Vega / The Vacant Lots, The Black Angels / Sonic Jesus, A Place to Bury Strangers / The Telescopes and The Myrrors / Cult Of Dom Keller – pretty illustrious company indeed.

Neither band should need much in the way of introduction, for the self-confessed aficionados of this limited edition vinyl feast.

Magic Shoppe – ‘Interstellar Car Crash E.P.’

Magic Shoppe - press photo 2016

I’m sitting here listening to Magic Shoppe‘s, ‘Interstellar Car Crash E.P.’ for the umpteenth time, with a big, shit-eating grin on my face,

It’s all I can do to remain sitting, such is the electrifying, soul shaking rapture.

Thank fuck for chance encounters via social media, the band followed me on Twitter after encountering ‘chromaticism’ on Hype Machine. “Connect the goddamn dots!”.

Magic Shoppe have me in an emotional knot, enlivened, impassioned, the whole 9 yards!

Life is good…
