Desert Mountain Tribe – ‘Either That Or The Moon’

dmt

Desert Mountain Tribe comprise Jonty Balls on Guitar/ Vocals, Philipp Jahn on Bass and brother Felix Jahn on Drums.

Either That Or The Moon is this power trio’s first full length album, a welcome follow up to 2014’s promising self-titled EP.

A quick trawl of my Facebook activity log, shows me first posting the video for ‘Take a Ride‘ in March of 2014 – one of those arresting tracks with an immediacy and presence, which further cemented DMT’s inclusion on The Reverb Conspiracy Volume 2.

Through the medium of music, JuJu the artist achieves his stated goal, “to turn that defeat into a celebration”. A theme which is beautifully expressed with the artwork inclusion of Géricault’s ‘Study of a Model’, an inspiration for his masterpiece, and long time favourite of mine, ‘The Raft of the Medusa’.

For those as yet uninitiated in the ways of Telstar Sound Drone, those fine people at the institution that is Bad Afro Records, tell us, “The core of the band consists of Sean Jardenbæk (vocals), Hans Beck (drums) and Mads Saaby (guitar). The two last mentioned are also playing in Baby Woodrose. As usual they also invited some friends down to the shelter. Hobbitten (Spids Nøgenhat/ex-On Trial) is playing guitar on six out of nine songs. Christian Norup (Bite The Bullet) is playing bass on five songs and Kåre Joensen (Baby Woodrose) is playing bass and synth on two songs.”
