That was in a previous life and was just one string, to his multifaceted bow.
As the Glitterhouse Records website attests, “Volk is also a composer, having written scores for independent European and British short films. He has had his material used by the BBC, HBO and had commissions from National Geographic. Volk contributed music to the Academy Award nominated documentary on Bristol street artist Banksy, entitled “Exit Through The Gift Shop”.”
“Huminoita is a Finnish word that can be related to the wind between the trees. Sounds made by the wind and the branches. Noita means ‘a witch’ in finnish. Humi-noita has definitely some connections to the forests and witches of Finland.”
“Luova Records is a new Record Label from Finland. We are a collective of musicians who work together through different bands & projects. We’re scattered around Finland, but most of us live in Jyväskylä.”
This metaphorical trip then, is my third “visit” to Jyväskylä. My first was in homage to Alvar Aalto, the intuitive architect genius, who personified honest expression – a master of freeform exploration. My second encounter, as part of the world rally entourage – a blur of speed back in 2001.
Jyväskylä, the enlightened “Athens of Finland”, is set in a magical landscape of forests and lakes, an elemental utopia

There is a refreshing purity of essence, in an artist who arrives devoid of baggage or expectation.
Washington State woodsman, William Sol is one such rare occurrence.
William Sol, alias Prana Crafter – is a true, life-force enriching, artisan.
All I know, or can find for that matter, is what little information comes courtesy of those astute audiophiles, at the Deep Water Acres Record Label.

“Árirang was born in Milan as a matter of sound. Maybe an orchestra, maybe just a solo.”
Being well acquainted with fellow Milanese noise merchants, The Gluts and Giöbia, I feel a certain sense of shared DNA with Árirang, if only through guilt by association.
Tenuous as this link may be, having met and trusting the impeccable good taste of The Gluts and Giöbia, Árirang are a more than comfortable fit within my listening palette. A further introduction through Monica at A Giant Leap, has cemented this aural relationship.
