I asked Nyt Bloomer for his take on what the Distorted Perspectives Festival meant to him.
“Hi Ian, I’m feeling really excited about Distorted Perspectives festival now. I never heard Moon Duo before but their last album sounds fantastic. I always look forward to playing with Shammen Delly, I’ve known them a long time & they’ve been a big influence on me. I learned a lot in those early morning fruity loops & traktor sessions after parties at Josh’s old house.
I’ve nice memories of listening to Ulrich Schnauss’ ‘Trains Passing By’ so I’m sure i’ll love the new live show he’s put together.
I saw Autumns last week on RSD & they were decent live so it’d be nice to see them step it up playing with Red Flare. I was at the launch for Locky Morris’ Dead On remixes & it was one of the most enjoyable gigs in Derry that year. They nailed it! I got to work with John O’ Neill on a collaboration project called Resonate at the Nerve Centre earlier in the year & I was really inspired by his sampling & ideas, I had no idea he did that outside of the Undertones..
It’ll be nice to see Documenta live finally! I’m a fan of their drummer James’ solo stuff (Ken Vs Ryu) so a catch up is in order!
I’m interested to see what kind of vibe the festival is because I played at the Community Skratch Games earlier this month in Galway & it was an incredible atmosphere! I’m infinitely inspired by the people I met, the performances & the support from the crowd so I’m hopeful that Distorted Perspectives will be the same.
It’s a nice challenge for me to play different types of gigs & work a new set around it so i’m eager to see how it goes down!”
Here is a flavour of Nyt on Bandcamp
and Soundcloud,
Sounds like this will be really interesting ! Nice to see a festival without all the same old names on the bill, give the youngsters a chance I say ! Hopefully we can read all about this after the event ? Many thanks for the info, and if you’re going…enjoy !
Will be reporting on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night!
