Magic Shoppe - press photo 2016

I’m sitting here listening to Magic Shoppe‘s, ‘Interstellar Car Crash E.P.’ for the umpteenth time, with a big, shit-eating grin on my face,

It’s all I can do to remain sitting, such is the electrifying, soul shaking rapture.

Thank fuck for chance encounters via social media, the band followed me on Twitter after encountering ‘chromaticism’ on Hype Machine. “Connect the goddamn dots!”.

Magic Shoppe have me in an emotional knot, enlivened, impassioned, the whole 9 yards!

Life is good…

‘Salventius’, from the plugged in, feedback frenzied, sturm und drang get go, is guitar overdriven nirvana, it’s slashing riffs underpinned by a relentless, oozing metronomic backbeat; ‘City Alright (Yeah)’, is as out there as any Big Sur breakers, a ‘Route 1’ snake-hips meandering, “plugged like a main circuit cable”, straight into the essence and vibe of west coast folklore…

‘Redhead’, is positively horizontal in it’s laid back delivery, anthemically soothing, slipping inside a psych(e) affirming, reverb paradise; ‘Interstellar Car Crash’, is awash with tambourine tangents, a driftingly dissonant, delirium-soaked, epic dreamscape…

Magic Shoppe have delivered a Byronic masterpiece, theirs is an easy uplifting bonhomie, bristling with bohemian bravura.

Listen, love, buy, the end…

You can listen, love, buy ‘Interstellar Car Crash E.P.’ via Magic Shoppe’s bandcamp page here.
